What can we do to thrive as athletes in the long-term?

What aspects of health does one need to manage in order to optimize for performance and longevity in a particular sport, athletic pursuit or physically demanding career? Body composition, hormone status, connective tissue health and immune function.

What are examples of things that degrade health and function? Inadequate lean muscle mass, muscular imbalances, declining bone mineral density, inflammatory visceral fat, dysfunctional HPA or HPG axis, insulin resistance and systemic inflammation.

What tools do we use to analyze and optimize these facets of health? Examples include DEXA scans, sex hormone panel, thyroid hormone panel, comprehensive metabolic panel, advanced lipid panel, nutrigenomics, micronutrient testing, food sensitivity testing, sleep studies, VO2 max and lactate threshold testing.

Care will be led by Johnathan Puhalla, PA-C, who is a board-certified physician assistant and certified strength and conditioning specialist.
